quite a ways? the dialogue just doesn’t feel like real human beings to me, it’s not about whether or not I like the characters, it’s that everything feels really flat.
i guess i see that. idk, i’d definitely say it’s improved a lot tho.
idk. i really like it, and i think it really hits its stride like halfway through book 2, but if you got rly far into it and still didn’t like it then maybe it’s just not your thing??

mmmmrgh I don’t know why but the writing for dumbing of age has always just felt unrealistic and grating to me - does it get better as it goes or is this apparently just not my thing? idk idk i couldn’t care about a single character when i read it
i mean, i’ve always liked it, but it does definitely improve over time--both writing-wise and artistically. and how far into it did you read? bc that’s kind of the point; at first, they’re all annoying and ur like “why should i care about these assholes, theyre all terrible” and then u get a few arcs in and you’re sobbing about all of these tiny tiny children
apparently there was someone on the train on their way to special edition reading one of her books and she went over to talk to them about it! i would have died if that was me, honestly.
