thank you. don't ever do that again.
PROMPTS FOR PEOPLE WHO AREN'T USED TO KINDNESS @eifri
"What, save your hide?" Gav playfully scoffed. "Well, someone has to! We're not going to risk losing you now... Oh, and you're welcome."
11: How important is family to your muse? ( careful how you answer this clive is listening /j)
OKAY THIS IS HARD TO ANSWER, BECAUSE THERE ARE TWO ANSWERS:
There's the true answer, which is how he actually feels in his heart. Then there's the answer as stated by his actions and choices.
Answer one: family is the most important thing in the world to him. It always has been, even during his youth; his parents were very dear to him, with his father being his hero -- and don't even get me started on how strong his attachment to Byron was.
Initially, he viewed starting a family of his own as just another duty he was required to carry out. But once he actually got to know Anabella better, and Clive came along, he discovered just how much he had always wanted this -- it was like a missing puzzle piece had been found and put into place in his heart, when he hadn't even realized that it had been missing in the first place.
Answer two: Elwin has the very, very, very terrible habit, as everyone in his family and friend circle can probably testify to, of putting his duties as a soldier and as a ruler before everything else. When he was younger, it wasn't uncommon for him to excuse himself from social obligations, gatherings, etc. in order to either train or study. Even during the Rosfield family's summer vacations to Eastpool, Rodney and Hanna had to practically pull him away from his books.
When he took the throne, his main priority became his people, along with his duties as Archduke, be it in the throne room discussing political matters, the war room deliberating upon their army's next course of action, or leaving Rosalith entirely to accompany his men on expeditions.
It didn't mean he didn't love his family to bits -- he just focused too hard on one area, at the expense of the other.
PARIS for the headcanon thing 🇫🇷
Paris: has your character ever had a transformative experience while traveling or visiting a new place? describe the impact it had on them.
Yes! The first time that Elwin accompanied his father to Oriflamme in Sanbreque, he was quite taken with just how different it felt from Rosalith. It was bigger and grander than anything he could have imagined -- even the very air was teeming with life, likely because of the aether pouring out over the city from Drake's Head.
And the Imperial Palace was beyond words; it was both breathtaking and intimidating, inside and out. Just standing in front of its majesty was humbling.
It put into perspective for him just how little he enjoyed these things, in truth. How little he cared about royal bloodlines and the ruling class, or the pomp and grandeur and masks that the nobility hid behind while they flaunted their status and everything that came with it. He would continue to play his role, of the dutiful and diligent heir to the ducal throne, but he wanted... more.
And when he happened to see how the Bearers in this city were treated -- beaten and starved and pushed to work themselves to the bone, and to use their magic until their very flesh turned to stone, then replaced as if they had never been alive at all...
It made him realize that this was not a problem exclusive to Oriflamme, or just Sanbreque at all. It was everywhere, even in Rosaria, and he had been blind to it this whole time.
Needless to say, he left from that trip with a sense of resolve that he would do better. He would do better than The Emperor, and he would do better than his own father too -- for his people, all of his people.

MASTERMIND. is your character a strategic thinker or someone who excels at planning and manipulation? how do they use these skills to their advantage?
𝐶𝛬𝛮 𝘐 𝛬𝑆𝐾 𝑌𝛰𝑈 𝛬 𝑄𝑈𝐸𝑆𝑇𝘐𝛰𝛮 . . .? @eifri
Gav is more or less more adept with thinking on the fly. He's used to other people coming up with the plan, like Clive or Cid, and he simply executes them to the best of his abilities. In the moments where the plan does go off the rails, he's always quick to stay one step ahead and make sure that no one dies in the process. It's because of his quick thinking that he was able to pluck his friends out of sticky situations time and time again.
sorry if you wrote about this prior, but reading into the undying in harpocrates' lore entries had me thinking: do you believe elwin knew about the undying, and if so, how did he feel about them? their completely selfless devotion to the phoenix / how they're not unlike a cult / did he interact with them personally or only hear of them ?
!!! I actually haven't written about this before! It wasn't until recently that I learned about the Undying at all, since I've been lagging behind with regards to progressing through the game. (Oops.)
Because of the fact that there might be more information about them that I don't know as of yet, take this answer with a grain or two of salt. I'll happily amend it, though, if I end up needing to!
Going to put this under a Read More, because spoilery goodness.
❛ Do you see so little hope? ❜

"For this world, may be. For it has has slowly been rotting away before our very eyes. Why must we cling to such desolation and decay when the promise of Paradise is within reach? You are not SAVING anything of import here, Mythos. Only despair and suffering. Hope is dwindling like the setting of the sun. This world is ending and you only prolong borrowed time."
