Catch the Butterflies
I had my second counselling session today. I explained to her that it felt like she had taken all of the bees in my head and pinpointed which bees I should focus on.
The key focuses were on:
- The idea of an ‘ego state’ which she explained as quite defensive and wants to protect you, it’s not 100% good or bad but too much here and it can override your judgement and what that produces during collaboration and presentation is not so good. - that there are things that I control and things I have no control over like what people think or say so not to worry or avoid the feeling but to figure out what I do have influence over which is how I receive it, my awareness and mindfulness and being non-judgemental - we spoke about the unhelpful thinking styles and to clock them and be aware of what I do, to catch what my feeling in my body is - we also spoke about the drama triangle and the winners triangle, their points and their characteristics.
I feel reassured and content right now and not caught up in thoughts.
Right now, all I want is to crawl into my mom's arms and have her read to me. Obviously, that's never going to happen, but that's what I need right now and I can't figure out how to make that feeling go away
We are a competing ecosystem. We don't have a single self, we are a competing ecosystem of our influences. And if you think that you've got one ego, you wind up being a tyrant. Because you have to clamp down on all these other influences telling you, or even encouraging you to do stuff, because you need conformity. The people who are tyrannical with their own identity are tyrannical with others. Relax, negotiate.
