Egg Shop, NYC.
Today, Sophia and I reunited for our first Sunday Funday of junior year. The last time we saw each other was probably Spring break. We decided to try out Egg Shop in Soho... Here are the results:
If you've heard about Egg Shop or seen their Instagram, you might think "they're just a hype." My statement about whether worth or not worth the hype is: SAO WORTH THE HYPE. It's intimidating at first. Especially on a Sunday- a day where brunch is in heaviest demand- expect a swarm outside the tiny little restaurant. You will be told to wait 35-40 minutes... But don't fret. The people who have put their names before you are weak, and their tummies have demanded they find food elsewhere; your name will move up. Sophia and I probably only waited 20 minutes max to get in. So: either get their early or come with a not so rumbly tumbly.
I ordered an egg sandwich. THIS IS NO ORDINARY EGG SANDWICH. You choose your style egg, your breads, cheese, sauce, and additional toppings. I got 1 soft scrambled egg, with a panini roll, the white cheddar cheese, and onion aioli. This was a BOMB SANDWICH. Everything is fluffy. Breads are fluffy, eggs are fluffy. Sauce is so good. It's a fluffy cloud of eggs and cheese and ooh, get it. Sophia ordered the El Camino bowl. It came with a perfect poached egg. We also split a side of hash browns which were more like latkes. They were average.
Overall: Definitely worth trying out. Egg sandwiches are bomb. Scope out the yelp and Instagram! Happy egging!
