So much had gone wrong with this already, so much more was at stake than they had imagined even in their worst dreams ... And still none of them had lost hope or would do so now. Not while their King, despite his worries for his own son, called his army to fight, strong and unwavering with his sword and bow ready, to defend this realm that they all loved so much once more. This was their curse, their blessing, their last duty in Middle-earth; this, right here was the reason, the twins had stayed when nearly every other elf had left. And nobody said, keeping the beacon alit would be a picnic.
