Here are some sweet photos of some bright eyed book lovers that attended The Free Black Women’s Library when it was installed at Studio Museum in Harlem, October 2017.
People of all races, ages and genders are welcome to bring books written by Black women to trade with the library and each other. For each book you bring you get to take one, as long as it’s a good book by a Black woman writer.
People are also welcome to hang out with the books and take part in fun nerdy book and Black women focused activities and conversations. People are welcome to come and read, write, draw, and chill in the space.
TODAY the library is at EFA Project located at 323 West 39th street, near 8th Avenue.
We are on the second floor, and there is an elevator.
The library is open from noon to 5, book swaps start at noon, and we are talking about Camille Acker’s awesome short story collection, TRAINING SCHOOL FOR NEGRO GIRLS at 2.
Feel free to share this message and bring friends.
You don’t need to bring a book to attend.
See you then!!
