ppl have come up with various ideas of why tom turns into a monster, the original take from tomska was "Rage demon" so basically the hulk. I still subscribe to the idea that its controlled by emotions and tom has some sort of demon living inside his body (cant possess something twice!).

When I had the idea of his parents both being passed (his dad in the bears incident and his mum something else), I thought why not have the demon thing be a REASON his mother died and it bloomed into a familial curse. others have pinned sheriff thompson as the reason tom's family has demons in it, but i don't think he was involved. He has normal eyes, after all.

the details are pretty nonspecific but somewhere in tom's bloodline, his family participated in the salem witch trials and some 36 yr old witch doomed his family to die the same age as her. the women specifically. its why i drew both his mum and aunt with the blacked out eyes, and tom being afab has them as well. their lives get cut short at 36 and this is why bonnie had tom when she was very young.
