#ManCandyMonday: A Cub Crush
This week we traveled from St. Louis for our first visit to ChiTown to taste our #ManCandy from the Chicago Cubs, Edwin Jackson. Jackson is the first pitcher to be featured on our #ManCandyMonday menu and also our first European player.
Edwin Jackson is a 29 year old pitcher who was born and spent the first 8 years of his life in Germany, as his family was a military family and were stationed there during that time. When he moved to the states, his family settled in Georgia where he attended school, played baseball and led his high school team to a State Championship in 2001. That same year he was drafted by the Dodgers as an outfielder, but was later converted into a pitcher. Jackson spent 5 years with the Dodgers and then was traded to 5 different teams in 6 years, and then finally to where he is now on the Chicago Cubs as his 7th team. Before he made the Windy City his home, on his brief stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks, he pitched a no hitter against another one of his former teams the Tampa Bay Rays. This is an excellent feat for a pitcher to accomplish.
Now Edwin Jackson hasn't had the greatest season this year, his record being at 7-11 with a 4.65 ERA but the month of July had him glowing with a 1.83 ERA and a 3-1 record. His next start is Tuesday against the Phillies and I, the Cubs and I’m sure Jackson, are hoping his August resembles his July. Excellent on the mound numbers, yes. Excellent off the mound work, also yes.
Teamed up with his lovely wife, Erika Zander-Jackson, Edwin Jackson has hosted numerous charity events. Some of these events including, Edwin’s 33 Ways of Giving, and Edwin’s 100 Bikes for the Holidays. The events that Jackson host, benefit military families, as both him and his wife come from military backgrounds. 2 things I love, a man in a baseball uniform, and a man in a military uniform, so sign me up to help out at any of these events sir.
1.83 ERA, sexy and a charitable man? Ms. Erika, you are one lucky woman.
Sequined Yankee hat off to our Cub’s Cutie, Edwin Jackson.
Love and Baseball.
