My kid meows if you ask him his name.
This is a consistent response.
I did not teach this.
Kids are weird.
It has been unseasonably warm basically all “winter” which means there has been a lot of playing outside. This weekend we explored a new natural playground and it was AWESOME! Everything has been made with natural materials and inspires adventure and creativity. So cool!
Parenting
Husband: Why’s he crying? Me: He doesn’t want to eat corn for dinner. Husband: Were you making corn? Me: Nope. Husband: Me: But to be clear, he will not be eating the corn that I am not making. Husband: F corn. Me: Damn straight.
I’m home this summer with my six year old for the first time. He’s always been in daycare through most of the summer while I worked various summer workshops because he was still pre-k, and we kept his schedule, but in the new territory of having summers himself after finishing kindergarten, here we are sharing our summer.
He’ll be in camps some of the time (hey there, sanity and reason), but today was a 100%, connected at the hip, summer with a capital S day. Lazy pancake breakfast, windows open, music on, playing in the backyard sprinklers, popsicles, swinging on the porch long enough for our suits to fully dry, naps, soccer, and a long, flip-flop-attired, casual dinner with friends. On the way home in the car, sleepily starting to drift, he says, “Today was a really decent day.” “Decent, baby?” “Yes, the very best.” ❤️

Going to exercise now. I’m leaving my comfy couch and an impressive Netflix binge streak to go get sweaty in 6000 degree heat on purpose. Whhhhyyyyyy does it have to be this way.
Just because I haven't posted in a while, here are some of my daughter's adorable lunches.
Something to think about...
There are 7 English teachers in my department. Only 3 of which have children. Does this say something about... The people who become teachers? The people who become English teachers? The amount of work it takes to be a teacher? The amount of work it takes to be an English teacher? How teaching children makes you never want to have any of your own?
