Who is Desta French? Well let me tell you. She’s a Latina who lives in the UK. There is something fascinating about UK artist to me. The song Shame is what drawn my attention. I can’t find this song anywhere on mainstream, but you’ll find it on YouTube. Her voice reminded me of Amy Winehouse. But then I decided to do my research on her and found out more about this beautiful soul. She touch on topics on colorism and also spoke about the lack of representation of Latinas in the UK community main stream media. Interesting...It’s no different here in the United States. She also stated that Latinas come in every shape, size and shade. Which is sad, because this shouldn’t even be an issue. The ignorance is beyond me. To all my Latino/ nonblack friends, please pick up a book and read. Not only Latinas varies from shade, shape and size but hair counts as well.
