"Prosperity is no mere blessing. Those who achieve it understand this most of all. The process by which one fails or succeeds within this world is dictated not only by the amount of work they are willing to put into themselves....but also their overall worth. Social status, wealth, titles....all means to which someone may maximize their potential to succeed. Am I to respect those with skill when they lack the opportunity to use it? Am I to even care to think of those with opportunity but with neither skill nor will to cease it?"
Just as he would speak of any other subject, Byakuya's tone was flat...cold...and not without a bit of venom dripping from each enunciation. Speaking to a crowd of those he had already deemed too incompetent, or ignorant as may also bee the case, to understand what he was criticizing about their daily, dreary lives, the heir sat. His thin fingers folded together over his lap, little knuckles no larger than knots on a thin rope jutting slightly out from the intertwining of his hands.
They were white with...agitation, or at least that's what seemed to be the case as tightly as he held them together. Posture, form, gaze...nothing but those whitened knuckles gave away his mood. Although to some...it took only a small waver in the consistency of emotional distance in his voice to give this away....at least if they both knew him well and had rather keen ears.
"Don't make me laugh. Vermin....vile, unkempt, and repulsive in both stench and appearance....that's the true form of those unwilling...or incapable to achieve. Regardless of if this is physically manifested in their person....they will never be anything more than a contribution to the trash that's beginning to fill this world....and this school. Pathetic, really.....that this was supposed to be a place of new hope....because all I see here....is garbage."
Bitter. The shift in tone was a sort of bitter anger that fit rather well with the boy's biting words....but it was uncharacteristic of him, at the very least, to be so forward with his displeasure.....at least when not confronted by those stupid enough to do so.
Something else was on his mind. Berating fools was just a means to which he could relieve himself of the fixation on it.
