The Extraordinary State Defense Force (ESDF) was founded by the Sentinels in February 2017 to protect the Prime Minister. Six months before that, Parliament had passed a bill that consolidated powers in the Prime Minister, and the ESDF was created to provide immediate security and to allow for a streamlined process, should the need arise for violent retaliation.

The ESDF has become a paramilitary branch of the Prime Minister’s office and Sentinel government consisting of around a thousand men. They have a heavy street presence and also as full time security escorts to the Prime Minister. Where the EDSF follows him, there is heavy armed presence around him wherever he goes. They are also in charge of security checks.

After martial law was declared in August, it was announced that it would be enforced under the ESDF, not the army. With their new power, they took to the streets. They do not allow for protests, when they can break them up, and they are quick to crackdown on protesters by charging them with inciting unrest and using excessive force to break-up rallies and gatherings. They have also ordered that rallies can only take place with their permission, and anyone found breaking the law can and likely will be penalized. It is not uncommon for the ESDF to take detainees from protests, and they have had violent altercations with protestors.

The ESDF mainly consists of ex-military men and those extremely prejudiced to more common abilities who take great pleasure in enforcing the curfews on the lower classes. For the most part, their abilities are Class B, but there are some Class A individuals mingled in. They are known to be vulgar and inflict quick injuries before escorting people home, and they are notoriously violent and known for their brutality. In the year they have often beat protesters who prove to be stubborn and have beaten up targeted adversaries of the Prime Minister. On more than one occasion, they have donned plain clothes and broken up political rallies of other political parties. They have also been accused of kidnappings, though there is no court of law that could prove it, and they have clashed with the Directorate for State Security over their methods, which the DSS finds brutal and unhelpful to DSS goals.
