The Phantom of the Opera (The Phantom of the Opera)—Alright, I know Michael Crawford is generally agreed to be the sexiest Phantom (or Gerard Butler, if that's your bag), but for my money, it has to be Claude Rains as Erique Claudin! Despite the fact that he's not a heavily romantic Phantom (especially because Christine was meant to be his daughter in this film's original script), he still comes across as very dreamy, if still very eerie, in my opinion. Claude Rains is wonderfully, painfully shy, if still very charming, as Erique in the film's early scenes, as the poor guy gets put through the absolute wringer; you come to feel for him as he seems to just lose left and right (big win for the whumpers in the crowd)…and then Erique becomes the Phantom, and you really get to revel in that beautiful voice that made Rains so famous with "The Invisible Man"; his is a voice worthy of an opera ghost, equal parts haunting and warm as he intones his demands and haunts the heroine. That excellent voice, combined with a snappy blue mask and Rains naturally being a silver fox makes him the most attractive Phantom to me. 10/10, would follow through a mirror!

Christiane Genessier (Eyes Without a Face)—There’s something about the combination of the blank mask with the overt femininity, sort of a creepy doll effect, combined with the gothic horror of it all. Also the character’s growth from damsel to almost proto-final girl is really interesting to me.
