World Watercolour Month: 2. Rush
as in that rush you get when your timing was right and you got your ice cream before the big rush showed up. something something sugar rush yeah!
If you feel down for it, I would love to see a small crossover between your Canadian and Ancient Greek characters
since you asked so nicely p:
occasionally i think about how they're actually contemporaries today, but it's hard for me to say anything significant about Canada-Greece relations from here because most of them are based in Eastern Canada (Montreal and Athens are the only sister cities between the two nations, which certainly would make an interesting dynamic! but one may have to ask @randomoranges)
so the primary connection I know is from the University of Alberta; we have a dig site near the modern village of Kallithea (in Thessaly, south of Larissa). I do regret not going to field school when I had the opportunity; I did hear secondhand that the post-dig ice cream was excellent. Since Edith is the representative for the university, she's standing in for Ed here. If I remember correctly, which nationalities can dig where is strictly controlled by the Greek government, so I think Canadians typically work on sites in northern Greece.
The only other connection I can think of off the top of my head would be the torch lighting ceremony for Calgary's Winter Olympics...
a bit nsfw for discussions about sex - or lack thereof haha
rock band au part 30
It was the start of the third week of lockdown and Edward, somehow, was slowly getting used to Ătienneâs presence around the house. He was surprisingly easy to get along with and they were learning to navigate around each other. It was still â a little too polite and awkward for Edwardâs liking, but he supposed it was better than being at wits end with Ătienne and regretting having him over.
At the time being, Ătienne had gone out for a walk of his own and so Edward had the house to himself for a rare moment. It was almost weird to think that this no longer was his norm and with so much time at home, he seriously needed to make himself a list of things to do, before he became completely bored.
once again using my silly blog to get on my annoying political soapbox
CHANGE AND RESISTANCE STARTS AT THE LOCAL LEVEL! IF YOU HATE DANIELLE SMITH, IT'S TIME TO STEP UP!
and by that i mean: look at whether your local jurisdiction is running an election, make sure you know what positions you are electing (mayor, councillor, school trustee, whether that's catholic/francophone or what), and then figure out the best candidate for the job! Look at their platform, but also look at what matters to you and whether they're showing up in your community. Stalk their socials, see what events they go to (or don't), and what is important to them (or what isn't).
Edmontonians: Taproot has made selecting your candidates easy with their vote compass quiz!
I don't know if other municipalities have this sort of thing, but please let me know if there's some helpful info for undecided voters.
CHECK WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO VOTE! Canada Post is not going to be able to get voter cards to your mailbox this year, so keep an eye out for information about when, where, and how to vote as advanced polls start as early as tomorrow! Voter ID requirements are on the provincial website.
Also keep in mind that the UCP government has made it so that 1. political parties are legal this year 2. electronic voter tabulators are not, so all the ballots have to be counted by hand and we're footing the bill. It could take much longer to see clear results than usual. If you take issue with this, contact your MLA and the premier!

Ostensibly I draw Edith because I want to acknowledge the unique history and personality of Old Strathcona but in reality I draw her to wear clothes from Mars and Venus on Whyte Ave that I want...
Who speaks the most languages? Also who has the best French?
well this just might be my most ambitious ask in a while :) shout out to the 1.5 francophones who may or may not follow this blog. And also for those 1.5 francos...
*cependant, selon le Lego, mon Ă©ditrice n'est mĂȘme pas considĂ©rĂ©e quĂ©bĂ©coise haha >>;
more info below!
yeghaw :)
my apologies for neglecting things over here, I had a lovely vacation in Halifax and then promptly died of the plague and then my parents were visiting and between all that I had to work hard to recoup my financial losses (which I'm still recouping from... a lot... to the point I resisted taking advantage of this discount with my dollarama hat and my plastic boots from winners).
anything is possible with fluevog boots and baked goods :) even making Edith debut a halloween costume early. Or me making a comic nearly on time.
