Work And/Or Rework by Ed Fella / Available at www.draw-down.com / These pages are all recomposed from #American graphic designer Ed Fella's past work, but “collaged,” rearranged, or reworked from bits and pieces of what he calls “worksheet” or “process” material, culled from the hundreds and hundreds of the kept #Xerox copies Fella used over a period of many years in the process of making previous work. Ed Fella is an American treasure. After spending 30 years as a commercial artist in Detroit and lecturing about his typography experiments at the #Cranbrook Academy of Art, he was inspired to attend Cranbrook as a graduate student himself and earn an MFA. In 1987 he began teaching design at the California Institute of the Arts, where he is now Faculty Emeritus after retiring in 2013. Throughout his life, Fella's spare time has been devoted to personal experimentation. Awarded an honorary doctorate from CCS in Detroit, honored with the #AIGA medal, and accepted into the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Fella's personal, whimsical, and extremely detailed typography has influenced generations of modern typographer and lettering enthusiasts. #graphicdesign #typography #edfella
