They are probably a lot more well-adjusted than you are if they don't comment on every single discourse you've seen here on tumblr

Man I don't even wanna get involved in all that but some people here are getting way out of line with how they talk about asexuals and aromantics, like yes actually the innate priority of sexual and romantic relationships over other types of relationships is a social construct and a product of an amatoheteronormative narrative tying back to nuclear family ideals and even if a sexual and romantic relationship is a more "intimate" type of relationship you don't need to get that defensive over people wishing to not suddenly get neglected by a friend of multiple years for some dude they met on hinge 6 months ago, which, as it is, is an entirely normal and common experience for people to have regardless of whether they're aro/ace or not. And if an aromantic and asexual person or just any person who chooses to abstain from dating for whatever reason wishes to not suddenly get deprioritized in the lives of their loved ones for a significant other then maybe that has to do with the fact that non-sexual/romantic relationships are the only kinds that they have and constantly being on the sideline forever because of that could possibly be due to a socially constructed devaluation of these relationships rather than an objective and natural importance of sex and romance. Like maybe you just need to treat your friends better for real idk what to tell you. Self-proclaimed socialist until you have to challenge the hierarchies constructed in human relationships smh

It just keeps striking me how widespread and deeply ingrained into our brains it is that women are just not as smart as men. Even when people try to make up for it by parroting stuff like "oh but women's brains have such a high emotional capacity while men's brains are more rational but that doesn't mean men are better because emotional intelligence and empathy are more important!!!" First of all "male" and "female" brains aren't functionally different from each other second of all you're still saying women are not as smart. The way girls performing better than boys academically on average is never viewed as something positive on the girls' part but as a problem within the educational system that disfavors boys somehow, how academic fields that are women-dominated get paid less and over the course of time are regarded as "easier" than men-dominated counterparts etc etc and for lack of a better phrase for it it really is male flight, the inherent devaluation of anything that women are good at or are interested in, making it something that men don't want to be a part of anymore. And in this day and age in which women are allowed to partake in academia this inevitably leads to the realization that they are performing at least just as well as men have historically, more women go into certain academic fields or academia as a whole and less men are interested in studying or simply performing well academically and being educated because they associate it with women somehow. And this starts in school where boys aren't even driven to study hard and read books and perform well because it's become a "girl" thing. Among other reasons. This has gotten longer than I meant for it to go but it just pisses me off to no end, like honestly do what you must, I enjoy being in women-dominated spaces I love that, it would be much less of a problem if men didn't still have the social upperhand and weren't able to take our rights and autonomy away with their lacking education and growing hatred for our rising independence. And through all this still believing that the smartest woman in the world will never be on the level of the average man.

There's something I've been thinking about and I'm sure someone significantly more well-read in social sciences and psychology than me has already put it into better words but I think the reason people of certain oppressed groups argue to vehemently against any claims that they might have structural power over/be complicit in the oppression of another group is because they feel like that takes away from their own experiences of being oppressed somehow. Because they know they are lacking tons of benefits that are granted to other people and have to face devastating hardships and struggles so that when they hear that they have structural power over another group of people they think "that can't be right. I don't have structural power, the system hates me" and that is true but power is always in relativity. So while they struggle significantly more than most other people not part of their marginalized identity group, they are still favored in comparison to certain others and therefore have the power to contribute to other people's oppression. And the solution to that is not to come up with some new term that conceptualizes your form of oppression as completely unique but to make your activism more intersectional
