Front Yard Orchid! In the city of Rochester! I’m in shock! I saw these leaves growing in the spring and I left them to see what happened and now look!?! A gorgeous Orchid! Say what!?! This is feet from the sidewalk and street, you can probably even see my garbage can in the background of some of these pictures. WHAT A BLESSING! I’m so so in love right now I can’t deal! I’m just in awe of the power and resilience of our plant relatives and the whole living world that aren’t humans. We gotta pay attention! Stop and smell the flowers for real! Orchids are so so special in so many ways, I practically know NOTHING. I know that mycorrhizae have special connections with them. I know I love them and they are the largest group of flowering plants around. I’ll add the name to this post once someone shares it with me. I can’t find it right now but I know it’s MAGIC and mercury retrograde and I are having a decent time together, obviously. Please don’t come to my house and pull this plant. Ill cry!! I’ll give you a dang garden tour and you can take pictures and we can drink spring water and smoke a spliff. This orchid volunteered itself alongside a beautiful volunteer Oak tree that I’ve been watching grow for three years. My garden is the POLLINATION STATION of my street and I’m proud to have taken useless grass and bring more biodiversity to this city. We helped nurture this small piece of land to be able to receive its beauty, its bounty and its healing. We nurture land to nurture ourselves, and our relatives we share this planet with. Grateful for the abundance the living world shares selflessly for our collective survival. The birds and the bees need you to grow more gardens. Grow stuff! You can do it! They just wanna grow! #smugtownmushrooms #orchid #newyork #rochester #orchidaceae #terrestrialorchid #botany #plantmedicine #mycology #mycorrhizae #ectomycorrhizae #biomimicry #greatlakesbioregion (at 19th Ward, Rochester) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz0Zqh1AQRe/?igshid=ys1ybqexpl3i

4 Types of Fungi that benefit your plant roots
Recently, I researched how to make a better soil mix for my plants and made a note of the benefits of these fungi that can be mixed into the soil to improve plant growth. Rhizobia These are bacteria that can form a symbiotic relationship with certain plants, such as legumes, in which the bacteria fix nitrogen from the air and make it available to the plant in exchange for carbohydrates from the…

“I would also like to inform you that workers are protected under the law and cannot be fired for whistleblowing.”
“No, I am not threatening a lawsuit.”
“Okay, if we’re getting aggressive, then I may accuse you of exploiting the workers that have worked here for years.”
“No, I’m not threatening you. I’m expressing concern over a safety issue.”
“So you’re letting me go because I drew your attention to a legal concern, is this correct?”
“Have a good one, I’m sure you’ll be hearing for me soon!”
Tori is absolutely slaying this phone call.

50. what do you like to do while listening to podcasts?
Already answered!
43. what is a favorite podcast quote?
“And as this storm intensifies, she is unshaken, because this isn’t the first storm that she has lived through. And so she does what she’s done countless times before: she thinks of her friends, and she prays for sunrise.“ —Griffin McElroy (The Adventure Zone)
Griffin’s narration by the end of the Balance arc is absolutely lovely, and I’m a sucker for TAZ: (K)nights. This one is less popular than his quotes about love & being amazing, but the simplicity of the last few words always gets me. I’m emo for lonely android heroes, okay?
39. what podcast are you least likely to recommend?
Probably… King Falls AM. The humor is, uh, not for everyone, and the pacing is really odd, especially in the beginning.
22. what’s one thing that you’d change in a podcast?
Every podcast needs to have transcripts. Every one. Especially scripted audio dramas, they have no excuse! Inaccessibility should not be the default. (I also have thoughts about the way that creator-fandom boundaries have shifted with indie productions & the responsibilities of creators in interacting with small fandoms, but that’s a rant for another day.)
16. do you prefer audio diary format or radio show format?
I’m honestly not sure what this question means by “radio show format,” but if it means shows that don’t overtly reference their medium, like Dark Ages, Wooden Overcoats, and Our Fair City, then probably that one. I find it easier to get invested in shows when I have multiple characters to care about; if the narrator of an audio log doesn’t charm me immediately, I’m not inclined to finish the podcast. I do appreciate the intimacy of the format, though! And obviously I’ve been known to love shows like Wolf 359 and The Bright Sessions (though the latter holds on to the “audio recordings” conceit for far too long imo)
6. choose one podcast trope: gays in space, gays on earth, or gays on alien planets
Already answered, but I’m going to switch to the underappreciated gays on Earth :’)
