I bike because I don't like paying foreign countries or soulless corporations for oil.  I like to bike because it keeps me healthy and my environmental footprint much lower than riding a bus or driving a car.  My quality of life is much better because I have more money to spend on other things besides car insurance, car repairs, gas, oil, maintenance, registration, parking, etc.....

As a young dude who only lives ONE mile away from my work, how could I not bike to work?

4) economics

I love the feeling of freedom that comes from bicycling. The bicycle is a wonderful machine that quietly amplifies human power and grants the rider freedom from slow walking, freedom from waiting powerlessly for the bus/train/car-traffic, and freedom to coast down a hill on low friction wheel bearings like a bird hovering on a current of wind. All of this freedom for the mere cost of health yielding exercise. Thats why I ride and love bicycling.
