reusing some glass jars to propagate some plants! i can’t wait for them to grow so i can pot them and give them as sustainable gifts!
i got a box full of free plants yesterday!
this is your sign to join your local plant swap facebook group :)
eco-friendly/anti-consumerist gift ideas
if you're anything like me, you're trying to avoid buying new and unnecessary things. and if you're like me, you also love giving gifts. here are some ideas i've put together for more sustainable gifts.
something they actually need. this might not seem like a fun gift but it's worth asking if there's anything in particular they've been needing to buy, and maybe you can buy an eco-friendly version of the product!
plants! bonus points if you propagate them yourself and reuse/thrift a container or pot
an experience. take them to the movies, the spa, a restaurant, or whatever you think they'd like
acts of service. if you're handy at all, offer to fix something for them. this can be a light bulb, a pair of jeans, or anything!
a homemade gift. maybe you like to make candles, or you paint, or do woodwork, or none of the above! get creative and make something they'd like. maybe you can use materials from a charity shop?
alternatively, something from an artist or local business. you can pay an artist to draw you together or support small/local businesses!
regift! as long as you're not just trying to get rid of unwanted gifts, it's a great idea to regift something if you think they'd love it more than you!
consumables. how about you make them their favourite treat or get a gift certificate for some local fruit and veg?
a subscription. the possibilities are endless. this can be a course, a streaming service, food subscription, or anything at all!
if you have more ideas, please comment or reblog!
i sewed up these reusable cotton rounds and they’re not perfect but they do their job! made some for my girlfriend as well :)

went to wisley gardens yesterday and i was so inspired by it! they had a whole area on sustainability and how to make your garden more environmentally friendly.
i convinced my mother to stop using the big 1.5L plastic water bottles at home to keep track of her water intake and she bought a glass Voss bottle to use instead. the little things can make a difference.

Startup Aims to Turn Waterborne Plastic Waste Into Fuel
Good News Notes: “A UK-based startup is looking to solve two environmental problems with one solution, pulling plastic trash from waterways – where it would normally wind up in the ocean – and turning it into a fuel for ships. Plastic-to-fuel startup Clean Planet Energy has partnered with riverine waste NGO Riverrecycle to build out a combined floating debris to fuel value chain. Riverrecycle is…
