The ring of a little bell indicating he had even entered pulled him out of his shock and he looked away, pretending to be interested in something on some shelf. He had felt tears fall before he even knew they were burning in his eyes. It was a feeling he was greatly used to.
"I was hoping you had something in the way of health potions?" He called, not venturing further into the shop just yet. He moved to push jet black hair from his face, using his thumb to wipe at his tears, then the back of his hand, hopefully in a manner that wouldn't give away what he was really doing. But his slight of hand was never very good.
