alm’s characterization peaked in awakening. he really felt like a true foil to celica and someone who had to unpack the ideals instilled in him by living in rigel. in echoes all his edges got sanded off and he turned into a gary stu that’s always correct and can do no wrong

Alm is the worst lord in all of Fire Emblem. He has no meaningful flaws. He’s so nauseatingly perfect that he’s actively detrimental to the story and to Celica, especially, because Celica is very flawed and has to learn from Alm to develop but Alm is a perfect hero from start to finish. The core of Echoes is about how one’s bloodline should not determine their worth. Alm ruins this theme because at the end of Echoes, he is the only character able to access the vault and obtain Falchion BECAUSE he has royal blood. Alm is like an avatar character without the avatar label. I fucking hate Alm.
