EBSL 101 returns!
The past few weeks we have seen an increase Evelyneâs handsplaining and some fans have asked for an update on the Evelyne Brochu Sign Language (EBSL) course. Our first class covered the basics and if you need a refresher, click here. If youâre ready for lesson #2, read on Ebro pups!
EBSL signs for âtornadoâ and âeuphoriaâ
Two signs here. EBSLâs âtornadoâ is to convey that feeling that youâre not in Kansas anymore, being delirious in the presence of Evelyne. Note that a puppy named Toto may or may not be involved. Soon after such encounter, you may also experience âeuphoriaâ which noted as the tingling within the fingers.
EBSL sign for âwhat?â (winter version)
Canadian winters are known for the cold harsh temperatures and conversing in EBSL during September to April runs the risk of frostbitten finger tips. To practice safe EBSL, it is acceptable to warm your hands under your knees between signs. As for âwhatâ⌠what? Itâs âwhatâ. Thatâs what. Moving onâŚ
EBSL sign for âMind Blowingâ
Mostly self-explanatory sign. You see Evelyne = your mind is blown. Sign as appropriate and weâll all understand (probably do the same sign back in agreement).
EBSL sign for âIâm going to give you a moment to rephrase that before I serve you some truthâ
Even being Evelyne, one is not immune to the dreaded mansplaining or idiotic statements like âDelphine is evilâ. To handle such comments, use this EBSL sign to take a moment, wet your lips, and then unleash unapologetic whoopass corrective statements to set everyone in their rightful place.
EBSL sign for âthis smell gooooodâ
Evelyne loves good cuisine (particularly Thai) and good food means good smells. So when smelling something awesome (food or maybe Evelyneâs perfume) inhale deeply and sign âmmmm goodâ. Please refrain from attempting to taste Evelyne. Thatâs just rude.
EBSL sign for âI just, I just, I just CANâT!!â
Often EBSL seems overwhelming and you are gobsmacked at Evelyneâs beauty, cuteness, sexiness, hair, puppy, goddess like qualities that itâs just âtoo muchâ. Never fear, this EBSL sign is there to let you convey all those feelings. You can end your expression by pressing your hands to your face which mutes EBSL to allow you a moment to steady your heart.
EBSL signs for âCan I have a hug?â and âwhole worldâ
Hugs are the universal language for âyouâre my buddyâ in Evelyneâs world. Hugging spreads the love to the âwhole worldâ (as emphasized here by the 2nd EBSL sign). As part of saying farewell, be sure to sign âcan I have a hug?â and watch the immediate response:
Thatâs all for now buddies! Be sure to practice your EBSL daily!
Class dismissed.
EBSL 101
Welcome to the introductory course of Evelyne Brochu Sign Language. This is your starting point to get you acquainted with this form of communication. Itâs highly useful when listening to Evelyne talk about her projects and general discussions. Be warned that you most likely be distracted by Evelyneâs magical hair, smooth Quebecois accent, and overall general goddess like qualities. But with enough practise, anyone CAN become fluent in EBSL.
Now letâs begin.
Standard greeting in EBSL
This is probably the most common sign as itâs used to acknowledge when Evelyne enters a room. This sign essential translates to âweâre not worthyâ. Â The lower the hand bow, then more honoured the gesture.
EBSL sign for âearthquakeâ
This is an essential sign to warn you that the ground may soon give way. Often weak knees are to blame in Evelyneâs presence, but really her presence causes mountains to move and tectonic plate stress. The EB Richter scale is still in development.
EBSL sign for âlandslideâ
Often useful because you really donât know what hits you in Evelyneâs presence. This sign should not be mistaken for âwaterfallâ sign, although becoming wet might be a similar side effect.
EBSL sign âmy Ebro senses are tinglingâ
When you believe that Evelyneâs character might return to the scene, you use this sign to signal other Ebro fans to pay attention. Fun fact, during all of OB season 4, many fans continuously used this sign in hopes to that would Delphine come back to life. S4E9, they were successful.
EBSL sign âIâm a messy eater, but still beautifulâ
Helpful to warn your dinner date and ask the waiter for more napkins. Extra bonus is your dinner companion is Evelyne. Sheâll join right in.
EBSL sign for âcome along with meâ
Very animated, ensure that you utilize your hips and head twitch to properly enunciate this sign. The more groove you show, the better people will follow you, in theory.
And thatâs the lesson for today.
Class dismissed.
