(...) Of odd forms and somber tapestry.
I very recently discovered the underrated, heavily-misunderstood gem that is SCORN, published by Ebb Software in 2022. While its world-building and visual elements were praised by many, the game was heavily criticized due to its rudimentary nature, positing as a first-person puzzle game, rather than a first-person shooter; taking place in an age closer in relation to us than that of Ridley Scott's Alien.
I feel as though in the modern age, where horror is sanitized and bottom-of-the-barrel corporate slush is placed upon a high pedestal and is redistributed at large, we won't again receive a game as petrifying, fearlessly disgusting, and painstakingly beautiful as SCORN.
This game has both haunted me and inspired me for the last two weeks. It will never leave my mind, and has permanently changed my perception of both the world and myself as an individual. Never will I be able to aptly express just how much this game has done for me in these few short weeks. But maybe my inability to do so is but the core tenet of what SCORN is trying to communicate to us all.
Oh, also, Scornguy with a boof under the cut:
