Vermicelli Bowl Shawty 🍜❤🍤 Lunch date with my boo @jennysartbox Crazy story: 5 mins before @jennysartbox walked into the restaurant, a woman sitting a few tables away from me started to choke. The woman with her started to do the Heimlich. I immediately asked if she needed me to call 911. She said yes. Other folks in the restaurant looked over, then went back to their various conversations. It blew my mind! Thankfully she coughed up whatever it was before 911 needed to come. I was so shocked (and disappointed) that nobody in the restaurant offered to help... like, zero help. Nada. NOTHING. This woman was choking and receiving the Heimlich, and folks were keeping it moving like business as usual. Finally experienced @junebabysea, one of @eater's 2017 restaurants of the year! I started with the (1) crispy pig ears and (2) charred okra then had the (3) fried catfish for my entreé with a side of (4) collard greens & ham hocks. The pig ears were amazing! I was also a fan of their Pimento Cheese (you must order this). The catfish didn't taste like it was fried with cornmeal (my preference) but it was pretty good. I ate everything on my plate, but wouldn't order that again. The greens were delicious and it was nice to change up the way I eat okra (though I still prefer it fried). I had 2 cocktails (1 southern sweet tea and lemonade with vodka, forgot the other one). The sweet tea lemonade with vodka was everything my heart desires. This dinner was expensive af, so I'll be cooking the rest of this week. 2nd trip in one week! Y'all... I've cut back on eating meat, but the way @newlucktoy.seattle's Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs are setup!!! My God! I sucked the bones and even ate some marrow. I'm actually craving them again already and may head back over there this weekend. Also tried the Salt & Pepper Shrimp (served with the head on) and it was okay, but paled in comparison to the spare ribs. Pro Tip: you can sample their frozen drinks before you order! I sampled them all and they're ALL bomb.
