Lots Of Eggsciting Easter Sewing Projects
Go grab a nice cup of hot chocolate (you need it in this weather!) and have a well deserved sit down while you read today's blog post. I have been busy finding lots of fabulous free Easter sewing projects for you all to make. They are all eggstremely pretty and would make great handmade Easter gifts for friends and family. Some of the projects would be ideal as Easter decorations for your home.
My favourite find is this tutorial for a Felt Easter Bunny from the Creativity In Pieces website. It is such an adorable little bunny and I love the fluffy pom pom tail. You don't need many sewing supplies to make the bunny so you will probably find you can make it this weekend as you already have everything you need in your sewing box.
The Celebration Shoppe website have curated a fab blog post that highlights 7 gorgeous Easter sewing tutorials from around the web. I love the one she has found for a fabric Easter basket by Vanessa from V and Co which is on the Moda Bake Shop blog. It is an ingenious project that is made using a Honey Bun of fabric (find out what that is here) and some piping cord.
If you need some more Easter basket inspiration then you will be amazed to see that TipJunkie have got a post on their blog that links you to 70...yes 70!....free Easter basket tutorials. There has to be one you'd like to make from that list. :o) What could be a better Easter gift than a homemade Easter basket filled with little chocolate eggs wrapped in shiny coloured foil. Well, the addition of a cute kawaii amigurumi crochet spring bunny would be the cherry on the cake! You can make one following this free crochet pattern from the Craftzine website. The pattern is designed by fellow Tumblr blogger Stephanie Jessica Lau from All About Ami. You must visit her blog as it is packed full of free crochet patterns for you to follow.
If your house needs some homemade decorations making in time for Easter then you might like to try making some bunny bunting to hang from the corners of the room. It will brighten your home up and you'll really look the part if you wear some DIY bunny ears when you hang it up. The bunny ears tutorial is from the Finley and Oliver blog and the bunting tutorial is from Dana Made It.com. You could then make some crochet eggs and fabric eggs to place in a bowl and use as a centre piece on your dining table. The crochet egg pattern is from the Red Heart yarn website and the fabric egg tutorial is from Percy & Bloom.com. Those homesewn eggs would also be fantastic to hide around the garden for an Easter egg hunt.
Every year I plan to make some fabric Easter eggs then never get round to making them. Fingers crossed I stitch some this year. I think if I make some I might add a ribbon loop to the top of some of them so I can hang them from door handles etc. I've also seen in various places on the web that people have had the idea to bring a large twig into the house and then use it as an 'Easter Tree' and decorate it with fabric Easter decorations such as felt animal shapes and hanging fabric eggs. I think it's a wonderful idea and one that I'd like to copy if I can find the right kind of twig in my garden.
