Rhipsalidopsis season 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
ID: Hatiora rosea / Rhipsalidopsis rosea
Friday, Friday, Friday ...
It's gloriously sunny and finally, finally this week I have don't have to head into the shiny metropolis! Phew!!!
My one and only marble is trying to roll backwards and figure out the things that happened on Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Thursday, Thursday.
OK ... on Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday life was just ticking along in its usual slow mo fashion. I'd already had two days out in the old 'charabanc' and was looking forward to not a lot happening. The Universe had other ideas. I'd just had a late lunch and was preparing to shift my carcass in the direction of cat feeding when there was a wee knock at the door. A lady was stood outside with a small dog. She explained that she'd found it in a ditch ... that she'd tried to lift him to help him, but he was having none of it. End result ... like so many people round here if they find a dog ... is to let the 'stray' dog follow them and to turn up at my door. Seemingly the logic is that I have dogs, therefore, I must know who the dog belongs to and what to do with it (face palms and rolls eyes).
Beautiful little dog. Long glossy hair. Corgi size. Black and tan. Maybe 2 years old. Attitude (understandably) was fear aggression. Poor little sod also had a bad case of diarrhoea (the things people in Ireland feed their dogs at times beggars belief ... where else would you be able to buy 'dog bread'!?!). Long story short(ish) ... managed to bundle him into one of the dog crates and I took him to the vet. And that's where I reluctantly left him ... no microchip, no idea where he came from, his new destination the local pound. Made me sad and mad as hell! I couldn't accommodate him ... my lot are too elderly and 'quirky' to manage a 2 year old un-neutered male who's stressed out of his box.
Update on this is that his owner has been located. As I suspected, an older gentleman that the dog 'got away from' ... which on the Emerald Isle means an unsecured garden and the dog left to do what it wants. Seriously hoping the dog will end up back at home ... depends if the owner can/wants to afford the fees to get his dog released to him. Fingers crossed for the wee one that he gets a loving home one way or another!!!
Other than that ... yesterday me and Biggest Dog and a friend headed into the shiny metropolis for the usual food shopping. It was a sweaty and unpleasant experience and no mistake!
And now for breakfast! ...
Easter cactus. There are Christmas cactuses and Easter cactuses. I don't understand why there aren't labor day cactuses and Martin Luther day cactuses. Why only Christmas and Easter? If someone developed a red white and blue cactus that bloomed on July 4th, I think they could make a lot of money.
EASTER CACTUS SEEDS. I noticed it was ready today and since I'm already up too late I figured I might as well harvest them so I put them on a paper towel for tonight and tomorrow I'll put them in a baggie & probably start germinating some? :3
