What just happened there? The horned feline had a moment of emptiness and completely forgot why he was getting Drake’s attention. It wasn’t for something vitally important, nor was it something mundane. His first instinct was to simply... hold the child. He spaced out for a moment and then suddenly he was holding the giraffe close, albeit a bit closer than expected, he truly was growing by the weeks.

A chill up his spine makes him shudder slightly, a familiar and dreadful feeling overcoming his senses as he intakes air. However, Drake’s voice snaps him out of this spacing out, putting the child back down on the ground and turning him around, a hand on their shoulder. He puts on a small smile, though his eyes say otherwise.

“Heh... sorry bout that. Aye just couldn’t help meself, aye think Hon’s rubbin’ off on me.” He took a moment before putting a hand on Drake’s head. “But that don’t mean aye won’t get ye tae places ye wouldn’t enjoy. Cause aye’ve been tryin’ tae go tae places that would be good for ye, yeah?” he then puts his hand back on his shoulder. “But... ye need to know that not every adventure we go on is gonna be safe, as much as aye try to, there’s just no escaping some things. Tis why we have training every other day, aye just want to make sure yer gonna do great things.”

There were times in which Charlie allowed herself a break from the hotel and building it up, and those were usually spent out in the city. Never anything scandalous, but sometimes it felt nice to dress up and let her worries go, just for a few hours. Normally they ended up with her going back to the hotel with no problems at all  — and not seeing what looked like a child on the street. 

Maybe her heart was too big ! But she approached them anyway, unable to see their face well.

        motherhood was not an entirely strange thing to the Mariner. many of the Sifan younglings liked to cling to her skirts or clamber into her lap during festivities at Cera-Na, and she and a few of her past wives had adopted orphans as their own, but having another stranger to Thra cling to her so fervently was strange indeed. yet, not unwelcome. skekSa had memories of before the rending, when she was a stranger on that planet who had the good fortune to be readily welcomed by the coast-dwelling gelfling. why should she withhold such comfort from this childling? 

she looked up from her maps when she heard the pattering of little feet lead up to her cabin door-- Vassa was still resting underneath the waves, for she thought it wise to get him acclimated to a standard ship before introducing him to it. he had been so skittish when they first encountered each other, after all. drawing back and flinching whenever the Sifa tried to touch him.
