Encourage Your Students!
Now I currently don’t work with children above the age of 5, but teachers!! If you see a student who loves to read, or write, or be creative in general, please please please encourage them to continue to read!!
Now, let’s start back in 2011ish. I’m in 2nd grade and it’s my birthday, and my teacher got me a copy of Junie B Jones (my favorite book series at the time). I wasn’t reading all the much besides those books, but the books helped inspire me to write my own story (it’s not that good but hey, I was 8). It was a story of a shark who’s kids were kidnapped and she went to go find them (very heavily influenced by Finding Nemo),
One school year later, and I’m still proud of the story, so I gave it to my 3rd grade teacher to read. And she wrote me a certificate that said I did a great job. And let me say, that is important to children.Â
Again in 3rd grade, I wasn’t really reading any books that were age appropriate, then I finally found something I actually enjoyed reading; Allie Finkle’s Rules For Girls. I read that book for free read time every single day. And my teacher knew I really liked this series in particular, so what did she do? She gave me the copy she owned. And even if the copy she gave me has been lost to time, it still helped me become a better reader than I was before.
When I was in 5th grade, it was my final year in that elementary school. I was always a naturally artistic kid, and this was a time in my life where things were getting confusing. And my art teacher encouraged me to express my thoughts. Yes, there were things we had to do in her class, but she always gave us freedom with what we could do with that.Â
Please, encourage your students’ creativity.
I need help ASAP plz
I'm a substitute teacher for a kindergarten class every Thursday and Friday until spring break. I've slightly have 2 of my behaviorals calming down and participating with lessons.
My last one works in the classroom as if the rest of us don't exist. Until she wants something screams and attacks classmates.
She's managed to destroy things in as little as a minute. It's wild. She's verbal, adorable and responds well to 2 women fairly well. not diagnosed with anything. But I don't have contact with these women.
She has a deal set up with a 5th grade teacher to get candy if she does what's necessary for the day.
This class is ran by another sub from Monday to Wednesday. They don't do lessons & things go lopsided quickly. I believe the extreme change from their reg teacher then 2 different experiences and expectations.
My district is on your own kind of so i don't have anyone to bounce ideas off of.
I seev this behavior a lot with kids who don't have stability in the home. But since I don't know anything it's just a guess. Due to the detachment of behavior but wanting attention too.

Single Moms Shouldn’t Have to Choose Between Child Care and Getting an Education
Over the last couple of years I have been working on a project for the super awesome Marci McCoy Roth, my “aunt-in-law/.” This project makes poor through studies and articles focused on several topics: Early Ed, Childcare, PreK, Birth thru 8 years old policy, and foster/adoption stuff. Every day there is something I…
