 June 13, 2016 (North Bergen, N.J.) – Students at HCST’s Middle School, Explore 2000, further developed their team building skills at Ring Homestead Camp recently thanks to the support of the HCST Foundation, announced Linda J. Quentzel,  Executive Director.

First- and second-year students in Explore 2000 were led by facilitator Ms. Carrie Rappaport and the staff at Ring Homestead Camp in Middletown, NY, through a series of team-building events. Utilizing a ropes course, students were given various obstacles and challenges that encouraged collaboration, trust and group problem-solving skills.

Ms. Amy Lin-Rodriguez, Assistant Principal of Explore 2000 said, “The students and staff are grateful for the continued support of the HCST Foundation. The ropes course experience helped foster critical thinking and established personal relationships for our learners during the expansion of our student population. The funding for this venture couldn’t have been provided at a better time!”

Daniel Gans, President of the HCST Foundation, was happy to oblige Ms. Lin-Rodriguez and her students and staff:  “Practicing the collaborative process of these team-building skills help these students’ develop vital tools for both school and industry. We’re happy to help these student at such a young age.”

HCST District Superintendent Frank J. Gargiulo said, “I particularly appreciate the community-building aspect of this specific experience. Students engaged in such activities learn to recognize and practice leadership outside of a classroom setting.”

Executive Director Linda J. Quentzel also said, “We hope this was a lasting lesson for the students at Explore 2000, and that their experiences here have not only helped bring their community together, but will also leave a lasting impression.”
