One thing I’ve noticed about a lot of Disney’s recent E-Tickets (Radiator Springs Racers, Flight of Passage, Rise of the Resistance...) is that they don’t have an iconic structure!
Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, Rock n’ Roller Coaster... all have very recognizable buildings. Even Pirates’ facade is fairly recognizable, especially the Florida version. These buildings have a specific shape that is instantly recognizable, even when simplified for a logo, made into a Wishables plush, etc.
Meanwhile, the newer rides eschew iconic structures for blending into the landscape. Flight of Passage is disguised as the floating mountain range, Rise of the Resistance is built into the cliffs of Batuu, and Radiator Springs Racers likewise forms the desert cliffs surrounding Cars Land. There’s clearly a very different and distinct approach to the presentation of E-Tickets going on now!
