I know these characters all your babies, but is there a particular one that you have a harder time putting pen to paper? Or one that the words just flow easily on?
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD QUESTION, this is exciting (though Iām assuming you mean from all of my stories?)
The Zafars (from the MODosphere) flow fairly well off the page. Sam are a dream to write. Ariās a bit tougher, because sheās so complex, but itās not that sheās hard to write: itās more that I have to curb myself, because thereās so much to say. Dany and Mara are pretty good too. Taraās probably the toughest out of the Zafars, just because sheās so different to the rest of her family and, I guess, I donāt share the same connection with her as the others because of it.
I actually struggle a lot with Mary from Code Blue. I love her to bits, but sheās so... Detached? Not just from others, but from her own emotions, which is hard to convey in words without (I feel) like lecturing the characters on themselves, which Iād worry makes their actions and their feelings too disjointed. Adamās easier, but Toby Barlow from CB is probably the easiest for me.
Tristan from the Dare You series was someone I could usually write in my sleep, but thatās become a lot harder as time has gone on. A strange add-on to that is how easy it is to write Owen and Ritchie in Dirty Work? Elisabetās harder because she juggles so many different facets of her personality and I havenāt written much Georgie yet. Itās weird, because I feel like thereās this pattern of me being able to write my male characters better?
Soph will always be my easiest character to write, though. I just know her so well. Weāve grown up together, so I can get into her head and relate to her so much more. It took a while to be able to write her as a mother, but even with that, I can still write - Iām just more self-conscious of it.
