Answer: It depends per situation. Sometimes I photograph for press, sometimes for a band and sometimes for their booker, the concert organisator etc. When you photograph for a venue/ the organization you sometimes focus on other things you would do if you photograph for an artist. 👜How I prepare in general: - Looking up the photography & venue rules + specs. I have to know some basic info to know what kind of gear I should bring. Will I get an AAA pass, or a press pass? How many songs are you allowed to photograph? Is live editing required? Is there a photo pit? Am I allowed to photograph on stage? Etc. 💰- Looking up the sponsors, endorsements etc. that need attention. For example sometimes artists have endorsements with brands and festivals have sponsor. As a photographer you have to check if you have to photograph logos etc. 🖤 - Does the band/ venue/ booker want a specific kind of photos? For example: sometimes bands extra closeups from a certain member or venues request some extra attention for wide angle shots of the audience. 🎥 - Preparing & packing all the gear.
