I go out walkinâ...
The abandoned Donghae Nambu tracks have recently reopened to the public as a walking path between Haeundae Beach and Songjeong Beach. Brendan and I thought it would be a good idea to see one of Busanâs lesser-frequented beaches and take in some gorgeous views along the way. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The path was rocky, but the views were incredible. We arrived at Songjeong and enjoyed watching a Korean âsurfingâ club catch some âwavesâ as we sipped on a few cold brews. As we started back for Haeundae, we were approached by some journalism students who asked if we could be interviewed for a school project. They asked us how we heard about the newly opened path and what we thought of it. We told them how we came across an article online and how it was a testament to Korean efficiency. Why let such a breathtaking sight be closed when it could be repurposed into a public walkway? Koreans just get it. Our timing on the walk back was perfect as we watched the sunset on Haeundae and tuned into an excellent street band. Just imagine the Buena Vista Social Club, but Korean, and covering âMy Wayâ by Frank Sinatra.Â
