Microsoft AX on Azure and Architectural overview
Demo environment service:
With the help of ‘DEMO environment’, a virtual machine is offered to deploy cloud-based environment tool on Azure. This virtual machine will offer three elements to demo already installed Microsoft AX 2012 R3
• Windows server
• The software
• Sample Data
Retail Essential DEMO environment:
In the case of this environment virtual machine is installed on Azure by default. This virtual machine consists of three components to ‘Demo’ retail essentials.

• Sample Data
The benefit of using this environment included simplified user experience that is designed for user linked to retail management functions.
Developer/test environment:
This environment is for testing and deployment functions. In the case of developing/test environment, five virtual machines are deployed on Azure by default. These virtual machines consist of two pivotal elements such as Windows server and Software. The software is needed to development of AX 2012 R3 and testing programs. These two are pre-installed software programs.
Retail essential environment:
This cloud hosted environment will deploy only one virtual machine on Azure. This environment also installs a windows server and software program to manage retail essentials. With the help of these elements, Microsoft is offering an optimized user experience for retail management functions of Microsoft AX 2012 R3.
Retail e-commerce environment:
Only one virtual machine is deployed by default when retail-e-commerce environment is utilized. This environment facilitates deployment and management features and functionalities of an online sales channel integrated on Microsoft AX 2012 R3.
This environment is used for deployment and testing purposes and it also consists on windows server and software.
Retail mobility environment:
This environment facilitates sales processes helping sales staff to deal with sales transactions, daily sales related operations and customer order management. They can use their mobile devices to perform all these actions from anywhere in the store. This environment is used for development and testing operations. By default, it will offer you one virtual machine on Azure with pre-installed windows server and software.
Microsoft AX architectural overview explains how beneficial it is for big companies, but small companies can deploy some of its customized versions. It will help them in growing their business domains.
