i.  Penny does her best to stay out of Ernst’s hair when it’s working hours. She is aware that when he is in the basement, she is not (suppose) to disturb or visit him at least until lunchtime. Occasionally, though … she fails to keep herself busy, falling into a lonely restlessness and will make up reasons to call for and steal his attention. She’ll sometimes pretend to see a large bug and shriek, tip a chair loudly over in hopes to prompt concern or claim someone knocked on the door. Once, Ernst refused to surface and in a short-lived spout of frustration, Penny glitched out the blu ray player. She felt awful afterwards and insisted on working off the cost of a new one in the form of chores around the house.

ii.  Unsure if he is aware, yet also afraid to tell him, Penny genuinely sees Ernst as more than a temporary guardian. Be it a grandfather or even father figure, her trust in him eventually develops into a level in which her programming hopes to register him in an official parental figure. However, deviancy grants her the ability to keep this a secret for fear of rejection - something she had faced with her previous family - as well as burdening the elder with the unwanted inconvenience that is child(droid) rearing. Her actions most definitely make her adoration and loyalty known, but her plan is to never confirm it verbally unless the right moment calls for it. This means that if he wished it, she would leave his care without protest and conceal all personal wants.

iii.  After realizing she could count the number of his smiles seen on merely one hand, Penellope made it a personal vendetta to brighten the seemingly drab (however cherished) lifestyle that was Ernst’s without hopefully causing any sort of annoyance. She began with his diet, which even a childroid recognized wasn’t the healthiest or most diverse. Due to her age and lack of homemaker programming, this consisted of and started with sandwiches. If they had to run to the store, she’d pile different types of sandwich fixings into their cart. Back home, she would try to surprise him and prompt a potential chuckle by cutting his sandwiches into fun shapes: a heart, butterfly, puzzle pieces, and Mickey Mouse were some favorites.  

       The same violent, abrupt rattling that had startled the man out of his state of relaxation also succeeded in jarring the childroid from the world of make believe she’d created for herself and a few paper dolls aligned on the living room carpet.

       Made to replicate her organic counterparts’ reaction to potential threats, protocol to err on the side of caution sparks within wire veins like nerves prompting a trembling human child to hide. The LED pulses a troubled amber at the small of her temple and, tearing a widened gaze from the door, the YK400 seeks the source of her comfort – the one who had called her. Lamm. His name for her. 

“ Check … ? But – “ Corralled, Penelope stood from her place of play on the rug before shuffling towards the kitchen as instructed – however, she is kept from reaching the table and socked feet plant themselves at the threshold between the rooms versus fully obeying. Free will: the blessing and occasional curse of deviancy. 

“ No… “ Penelope begins, gazing at the now violently wiggling doorknob. “ They sound mad. What if they wan’ta hurt you? “

3-5 COMMON ITEMS   ( WOULD DROP EVERY TIME )

1.  A leather carver

A curved piece of metal with a very thin and sharp  ‘blade’  and a bustle attached to its handle.  It seems fairly well - kept,  and used often.  Perfect for carving into sturdy leather.

2.  Fairy Dust

A strange dust - like substance that seems to have powerfully addictive and psychedelic properties.  (When taken it garners long - time users strength and  ‘power’,  but first - time users will generally only suffer from mania and following bad side - effects.)

3.  Toxic Gas

Oh no !!  A strange gas - like substance starts seeping from the body a few seconds after her demise,  it seems like she had one more trick up her sleeve !!  You should take what you can and run.  (If you figure out a way to survive the poisoning and investigate the gass,  you will find out it had been a moderate amount of Zyklon B.)

1.  A mummified finger

Wait ... what ?!  You have no idea who’s this is and what this woman was carrying it around for,  but this definitely looks like it used to be a human finger.

2.  A faded photograph

An old photograph starring a happy looking couple posing with two nearly identical young girls.  The back dates the photograph to have been taken in 1925.

LEGENDARY ITEM ( A 1% DROP CHANCE )

1. A medical report

[ TRIGGER WARNING  WORLD WAR II ]

An eerily detailed medical report of a young girl who seemed to have lived in a subcamp from Stutthof.  After she and her sister miraculously survived the gas - chamber,  they were forced apart and experimented on.  The test seemed to have stopped quite abruptly.  (The girl in question looks an awful lot like the woman you just killed.)

3-5 COMMON ITEMS ( WOULD DROP EVERY TIME )

1. M1911

Heavily modified and fitted with a suppressor, this gun is capable of decreasing the sound of its gunshots by up to 50% and masquerading any flash completely. It’s incredibly well-maintained, clean, and despite the age of the model, it seems like it’s new based on its condition.

2. Flask

Half-empty, the container is a very smooth silvery color with some ornate patterns along its edges. There’s a decal on it that reads ‘For the Road’. By the scent of it, it contains hard liquor. Most likely a high-quality brand of vodka.

3. Packet of Disco Biscuits

What was once a small container for bubble gum now houses something far more sinister and far less legal. Though the stickers still masquerade it as a holder for chewables, the rattling sound within betrays the clever disguise for several dozen LSD pills.

4. Cigarette Package + Lighter

A box of Marlboros tucked away in one of the man’s coat pockets. The box is half full and contains a mix of cigarettes and joints, already rolled and ready to smoke. With it is a lighter. It’s black metal shine is interrupted only by the occasional scratch on its surface and is engraved with the initials E. C.

5. Notepad

Beautiful cursive handwriting details the names, ages, addresses, and hobbies of several people in a list format. The eerily specific details are occasionally interrupted by what look to be chore and grocery lists, occasional doodles, and half-finished poetry that varies in nature. Obviously a combination hitlist featuring human targets and tomatoes.

1. Rosary Beads + Cross

The beads of this rosary are a brilliant red. Flexible string weaves together the collection with its centerpiece being a silver cross engraved with the holy son. The piece has no particularly distinguishable features about it, other than that it seems to carry an emotional weight far surpassing that of its physical capacity.

2. A Fancy Old Watch

Judging by the make and model, this watch is decades old and yet seems like new with how well it’s been cared for. Bright, shiny, and accurate in its reading of the time, it would fetch a pretty penny in any pawn shop it is taken to.

3. Journal

Bookmarked with standard military-grade dog tags, the contents of this leather book vary from mundane recountings of day to day life, to heart wrenching stories of struggle, letters sent back and forth to confessional notes, bits of poetry and unfinished songs, and even recorded recollections of events. Documents and pressed flowers are placed between some sections. Though no specific genre can be used to label it, the darker, more personal pages of this read would make it difficult for anyone to stomach.

LEGENDARY ITEM ( A 1% DROP CHANCE )

1. A Clay Doll

Handmade, the shape of this small doll resembling a bipedal bull seems similar to a puzzle piece. Arms outstretched as it to hug someone, its other half seems to be missing. On the back of it is carved the following words: “Dear Little Brother”. The trinket’s paint has chipped and it’s edges have become weathered over the years, but still it remains unbroken and well cared for. One can only wonder where the other piece is...

The jet lag leftover from his flight caused Lucas’ limbs to feel heavy, each movement sluggish and uncoordinated. He was glad he had called Mike to pick him up at the airport, he wasn’t sure driving home would have gone smoothly or safely given how hard he’d sunken into the passenger seat and struggled to keep himself conscious before ultimately failing and sleeping a good majority of the ride home. Thankfully, this particular job had gone off without a hitch. Without much of struggle on the target’s part, it had been simple and clean, so he really couldn’t complain about it, save for the gnawing sensation that seemed to hound at the back of his mind like a restless animal in a cage. Normally, traveling would have been a relief for him. Part of it meant that he would get to journey across the world and see some interesting sights, but he found it was significantly less fun of an experience without Ernst’s commentary and witty banter to narrate it all. Indeed, not having him around felt odd. Wrong, even. And shameful as he felt it was to admit, it had caused him to miss out quite a bit in favor of holding onto one of his hotel room pillows and curling around it, trying to imagine it was the strong man he’d grown so accustomed to being around that he was clinging to.

By the time the sun had come up, Mike was pulling up to the familiar house that Lucas had come to look at with more fondness than he’d ever intended to. It seemed desolate and eerie from the outside, with its hulking size and structure, design vaguely macabre and reminiscent of many a cliche horror scenario. But much like its owner, Lucas had come to learn that appearances were deceiving— it was what lingered on the inside that had his attention and his adoration. And so as Michael pulled up to the curb a ways away, much too nervous to try entering the driveway, and helped Lucas take his luggage and suitcase from the back, a fluttering made itself known in the Pole’s chest. Pure excitement staved off any lingering drowsiness he felt as he thanked Michael and headed up to the front door. He could hardly fight the tingling sensation in his bones that caused his legs to shuffle excitedly as he knocked on the door a few times.

Perhaps he’d already been up by this hour, or perhaps he’d never gone to bed— with Ernst it was always difficult to tell. But for whatever reason, the assassin lost what little self-control he’d managed to cling to with a shaking grasp up until this point. The mere sight of Ernst after all this time apart elated the hitman beyond anything words could describe. He dropped his bags and immediately hopped up, arms throwing themselves over the Dollmaker’s shoulders as he pressed his lips to his partner’s. That same spark that he’d felt the first time they’d kissed (and that he could remember) reappeared and the half-Cuban immediately felt himself melt. Had it not been for the fact the elder had taken a clutching grasp around his waist the smaller man was certain he would have collapsed to the ground from how quickly all his muscles slackened. He relaxed completely, mind hazing up and efforts sweet, yet not quite as focused as they were emotionally driven. When he pulled away, winded by his own actions, he gently rested his forehead against the surgeon’s, mumbling softly as he basked in the other’s presence. Finally, he felt like he was right where he needed to be again.

Hearing that he was being addressed immediately pulled Lucas from his work. He pushed his chair away from the desk in his room, abandoning his open emails and bookmarking his current page in his journal to resume writing later. Hearing the question caused his brow to scrunch up as he moved to exit his room and head towards where he’d heard Ernst’s voice echoing down the hall from. “No, of course not.” He called back. The nature of his companion’s work being delicate, he would have preferred not to intefere lest he cause some sort of horrific domino effect that would impede the older man’s progress and bring about his anger. That was something Lucas held no interest in seeing, even from asafe distance. That aside, the dolls genuinely unnerved him. He didn’t want to be near them when he had to be- there was no way in Hell he’d go anywhere near those things of his own volition.

“I would not interfere with your work, cukru. I know how important it is to you. And besides, you know how much I...” As he came upon the scene, Lucas trailed off and slowly came to a stop a good distance away from Ernst, taking note of how the Dollmaker was examining the very clearly open door and quickly making the connection that neither he, nor the giant before him, were responsible for such an occurrence. And considering that they were the only two that he knew of to be in the house, that really only left one obvious explanation as to what had happened- the thought of which caused the color to drain from the hitman’s face. The idea of some half-finished product running around just waiting to be discovered made every muscle in his body tighten with a familiar rush of adrenaline and a well-prepared fight-or-flight reflex on hand.

“Ernst?” Tentatively, as to hide the fact that Lucas was practically shaking from the sudden anxiety of the situation, he crept up beside the German, both hands reaching to lightly clutch onto the man’s arm. Partially because if something actually decided to come rushing out at them from God knows where, he wanted to be able to pull the man behind him and defend him. But also because there was something unmistakably horrifying about the idea of being locked inside this rather large, maze-like house with a half-finished doll; the very idea of which caused Lucas to seek immediate comfort and protection from the one source he had in one of the few ways he knew how.

The taste of creamy bananas and peanut butter seemed to soothe the painful pounding within Lucas’ head, brain nothing more than a reverberating speaker vibrating and rattling within his skull, every thought a bass note that caused the throbbing to spike in rhythmic patterns. He tried to recall what it was that he’d done exactly to cause himself so much strife, but at any attempt at recollection of the previous evening turned up nothing but white static, Though the incessant noise seemed to dull as he sipped at the milkshake he’d thrown together, it was still taking him quite a while to come around completely and regain an accurate sense of kinesthesia as he moved to cook up some breakfast for him and his companion.

          A jolt. A sudden rush. Adrenaline pounds every crevasse, and the man jumps behind himself. Hand jerks off the knob, causing it to rattle and alert the doctor within. God dammit! And he was so close! He was already on-edge; one too many syringes and the poor chap could forget his brother again. Not to mention – what’s going to happen when someone finds the body inside the locked bathroom? That unfortunate doctor had to die today, thanks to Arthur. He’ll never forgive himself for that. But he would’ve been chopped in half if the act didn’t come out fast! At least, thankfully, someone is still alive. That someone being himself.

          The suit made him much more… welcome. Though the mask wasn’t his size, he tried to make it work. Thankfully his glasses helped it stay on his face, albeit loosely ( fuck his gargantuan-sized nose ) .  Most of the doctors didn’t notice; too busy with their own work. The downer only needed to get some liquid from someone’s brain. Much more difficult than it seemed, especially when he’s surrounded by people that can throw all his work down the drain.

          And just when it seemed like God had blessed him, all that success was stripped away. The doctor within the room was alerted of his presence and locked the door. Shit. Where’s another one that’s alone? Body turns – these boots were so weird. They squeak as he pivots on his heel. Arthur offers the doctor a coy smile; it’s strange, with how off the mask is.
