That’s No Raven
"I have left you plenty to pick over I don't see why you have to hound me so. There's more then enough to sate your hunger. These are mine and I'd appreciate it if you'd just bugger off now." Dvesel, once more, bickered over his shoulder at the cawing nuisance that continued to follow him. He'd left most the tattered and scattered remains of deceased trolls in the pit he had found them in. What he now carried along with him on a makeshift wagon were the more choice pieces he could work with.
And yet this pestering cawbeast would not leave him be. And the corpses continued to feaster under the intensity of the morning sun and soon they would either rise as the Undead or be too bloated for proper fertilizer. This trip would be ruined then.
"Craw caw caw." The white feathered beast continued to land on the heap of twisted limbs and torsos. Pecking at the dead and hopping about without much concern. It would pull and rip at the remaining shreds of cloth. Tugging out loose odds and ends which would clatter to the forest floor as it knocked and bounced out of the wagon.
"Shoo, I say, shoo. I'm sure they may not approve of me move their dismembered bodies but pick pocketing seems a bit bold, don't you think?" Dvesel hissed at the bird. Once more in vain did he stop to swipe at the creature only to have it pause and look at him with a sort of annoyance that was too intelligent. Too calculating. Surely it had been a great lusus to some poor, unfortunate troll. But now it only hindered the jadeblood on his travels back hive.
“Craaaw.”
"If one among them was once your ward, then I feel for you. But the bloods dried up and the body gone cold. There's nothing left for you here." It was a crude way of speaking about the departed but once dead there was no other use for a troll. Giving it one more failed attempt at shooing the feathered creature away before giving up. There wasn't too much damage it could do from here to home. But it was the incessant crowing at was driving him mad.
Never once thinking that it was the Plague suit that was attracting the beast. The trek back to his Hive was simply accompanied with a chorus of bird calls.
Little Talks
"I know I promised I'd spend more time with you. Things have just gotten a little more complicated. But that hasn't changed how I feel about you. You're still number one." Dvesel looked up at the towering figure made of bone and feathers. Biting into his apple and using his free hand to shield the morning rays from his eyes. Usually Buzzardad was always there to use a wing to shade him but it seemed the Lusus was feeling moody today.
"We're still in this for the long haul. It's always been you and me and it always will be. Till you find a new wriggler to look after." Before he could get another bite of his late morning snack the vulture clicked its beak. The soft grinding and clicking was cute and he chuckled at the worrisome look in Buzzardad's empty glowing eyes. "Oh? Saying you wouldn't leave me for another? Maybe I'm getting too old for you?"
Seeming to be offended by those words the great beast fluffed up it's plumage and somehow managed a huff. The sound passing through hollow bone was musical, in some cryptic way. Shaking his head and creating a click clank of bone rubbing together. Turning away from his ward as if to further show how displeased he was.
"I'm just joking you know. No reason to turn so sour." The jadeblood tried to smile but his lusus still wouldn't look at him. "You know, it's been a long time since I've felt like this. And I promise what happened before wont happen again. I wont let you suffer."
Shifting uncomfortably in his nest the avian tilted its head and there was a moment of silence where words didn't need to be spoken. There was an understanding that spoke volumes.
Oh so gently his lusus would rest its large head atop Dvesel's. Tenderly ruffling his hair with it's beak, making an attempt at preening him like he used to. Running his fingers over the polished surface of his lusus's skull. He couldn't remember a time when there was still flesh and skin attached to it. And it wouldn't have mattered. His dad was one of the very best around. Sharing a touching moment a little longer.
"Look, I'll make more of an effort to come up here. You have my word. Now I need to get back to bed before I'm missed." Giving his lusus a final pat and hug. Tossing the remainder of his apple core to the bird and watched him catch it.
Climbing down through the hatch that'd lead him back into the hive below. Giving one last look at the lusus that stared at him. Waving and blowing him a kiss as he shut the hatch. When he padded back toward his block he was greeted by the soft chuffing of Leopardmom. Giving her a passing pat while he crawled back into his recupricoon and settled in for a few more hours of sleep before dusk.
“Would anyone know a means of repealing Lusii? Something that’s not harmful to them of course. But I’m in a bit of a bind here.”
As a little lore and realization: Zeraki's ancestor had been the one to warp and break Dvesel's ancestor resulting in the Plague Monger. The soul purpose of the Plague Monger was to spread disease and pain though inevitably kill her lover turned captor. In the end Zeraki has fulfilled that ages old goal.
He's both a cause and cure of Daywalkers. I like how it all came full circle without much thought.

“I think your PERFECT. Even with your FLAWS, you’re nothing but PERFECT.”
Dvesel looked up from his recent kill, his heart racing in his chest and the hunger for blood sang in his head. He hated it, he hated this part of him with an undying passion. The monster he was forced to become and had to live with every night and day. Meeting the others eyes, feeling the heated intensity burn in that dark red gaze. Feeling his blood pusher skip a beat and heat rush through his body.
He was ashamed. Even when there was no judgement in those eyes he felt it deep down. A self loathing he couldn’t shake off. Wiping his mouth with the back of his head, looking down at the blood splattered floor. Sensing Saleos approach and the gentle touch to his gore coated face. Looking up to see a softer look in those deep red eyes. Listening to him utter those words that made his eyes sting with unshead tears.
Wrapping his arms around him, not asking for permission this time. Pressing his face against his the rustbloods chest, “thank ¥ou.”

Dvesel just looks over and inhales sharply. His expression much too bored to bother. He’s anything but ashamed of what he has to show. “Ahm, ¥ou know normall¥ this would be something I charge for. But if ¥ou insist on gawking at least pass me the luffa, and no touching.”
