DURF is a rules-light dungeon-fantasy RPG inspired by the best of both the old school and the new school of TTRPGs. It focuses on exploring dank dungeons and leaving with as much treasure as you can carry. Character generation is quick and flavorful, delves are tense and reward careful exploration, and combat is dramatic and deadly.

Why DURF?

Rules light, but with more meat to support longer campaigns compared to other rules light systems. Quick character creation. Roll up a new character in seconds after your last one kicked the bucket. Unique HD system. Ditching static Hit Points and instead rolling Hit Dice during combat keeps both players and the GM on their toes. Light Dice. Dungeon crawls are tense due to the use of a die pool rolled by the players, which determines how quickly torches burn out and if wandering monsters can be surprised. Deadly, old-school dungeon crawling, but colorful and whimsical instead of more sepia-toned grim dark. Compatible with other old-school adventures and modules for older editions of the famous dragon game. Open License. The whole game is licensed under Creative Commons so you can hack it and publish your own adventures and supplements to your heart’s content, or just enjoy the variety of adventures others have already created for it.
