I would really like to spruce up these designs a little bit. But I’m really happy with the concept. I came up with here. Utilizing the main for Cassette bots that Soundwave has.
While finding a way to make a functional, attack vehicle mode. I was also able to come up with music themed forms the characters can take. In a set of matching guitars and tower speakers.
The first real time I ever focused on the Duocons concept. It ends up being a cheeky reference as well to the small tank variance that frenzy and rumble were in the mid 2010s.
Yknow i just figured out a way i can pull out proportionate arms and legs without pieces of the vehicle mode sticking to the bot mode, gotta remember this one for when i have to draw the more slender chars
Here's battleslash
Dear Vector prime, So what Is cog exactly? is he a duocon? is Gasket and Grommet separate characters or just drones? is there any fun stories about fortress Maximus' tiny drone?
Dear Cog Cogitator,
I am aware of a Cog who was subjected to diabolical Decepticon experiments long ago. Shockwave captured Cog and used him as a subject in the then-new Duocon technological trials. The experiment was a partial success; Cog could transform into two vehicles, but they each contained psychological fragments of Cog. Shockwave discarded the two as refuse, and they wondered about Cybertron before each developing independent personalities: Gasket and Grommet. This initial mental impairment led many to treat them as mere "drones"—even though they were worthy fighters.
Much later, each of them eventually took refuge at the Autobot stronghold of Fortress Maximus and met Cerebros, completely unaware that each other was present. They each said they were drawn to the peace exuded by those who resided in Fortress Maximus and wanted to embrace pacifism. However, Cerebros detected that Gasket and Grommet's brainwaves were complementary, and suggested that they were two halves of one whole. He offered to rebuild them, but they hesitated: would they lose themselves completely? Would all the battle they'd seen be lost forever? Still, they took a chance on each other, and Cog was reformed. He was different now; the separation of Gasket and Grommet remained within him, and this has led to his skeptical, even cynical temperament, willing to battle even when Cerebros is not.
Once the Headmaster process was created, Cog volunteered to binary bond to Cerebros, becoming a grander being than either of them: the peace-loving warrior that we know as Fortress Maximus. Even now, Cog likes to introduce himself and his home city as "Cog of Fortress Maximus".
This was probably my first purchase of a character that I didn’t know. I wasn’t familiar with the Duocons. They came out in 1987 and I would have been 11, so I was starting to move away from toys to bury myself neck-deep in D&D, bass guitar, and the original Dr. Who. So for a first-time new guy character, I really like him. I like his shape, it’s all boxy and Gundam-y. The only problem is, I’m not sure how dying I am to admit this, but I can’t stop looking at his crotch. It disturbs me. You know, like people with trypophobia (freaked out by holes). I just look at this beautiful bot but I can stop rubberneckin’ his wedding tackle.
