I've always had a fascination with old antebellum plantation homes.  Touring them is almost like going back in time and visiting the Old South.  So, when my family went to Natchez a few weeks ago, I jumped at the chance to go tour the Dunleith Plantation.

Dunleith sits on a 40 acre estate which has been continuously occupied since 1790, which was before Mississippi was even a territory, or even in the United States. Dunlieth was established in 1820 by Job Routh as Routhland.  When the original structure burned in 1855, it was rebuilt and sold to Alfred Davis who established the plantation as it stands today. The home is designed with the Greek Revival style that was popular during that time and contains 26 rooms along with several outbuildings, including the carriage house that now houses the Castle Restaurant and Pub (we did not eat there, but will do so next time!).

Unfortunately, we were not allowed inside the house, since we were not guests or patrons of the Restaurant, but we were allowed to walk around the grounds.  I was very impressed with the size of the home and the outlying gardens.  It was beautiful and I got several great shots, which will follow.
