i want to write a story where theres a guy who can shapeshift, like fully change any part of their body, BUT they have to know exactly what theyre doing. like, they cany just think "cat claws" and grow cat claws, they have to think "mass of keratin in a curved pyramid which grows from my fingers." and then they grow the claws, theyre excited, and then the claws fall off becauae they forgot to add like blood vessels and stuff that actually attatches the claws to their body. i want this power to only be usable after you master biology and know every single possible biological substance, and then i want to give this power to a real GOOBER. like an absolute DUNKASS. a real GARBONZO. i want to see my pathetic introverted twink in mortal peril accidentally growing extra teeth or randomly bleeding and passing out bc he routed his bloodvessels wrong. i'd then end up giving him body dismorphia of a sort bc he realizes he cant "reset" his body and get rid of what he changes, he's just been doing what he's doing in reverse and sorta eyeballing it. im gonna give this man an existential crisis about not actually being himself, and his story arc either ends with acceptance or he tries to shapeshift his brain to get rid of these feelings and ends up going insane/dying.
