This song was created to raise awareness of human rights abuses against the LGBT community in Russia, and to raise money for AMERICAblog's and Queer Nation NY's work in this, and other, areas of international LGBT human rights.

This is the not at all inspiring tale of the International Olympic Committee and eleven of the top Olympic sponsors' Road to Sochi.  This coalition of some of the biggest mega-corporations on Earth dutifully and unfortunately followed the lead of feckless IOC president Thomas Bach. They have made a collective agreement that the shining ideals of the Olympic charter are merely easily expendable platitudes if they ever threaten to interfere with the collecting of large wheelbarrows full of Olympic profits. The result of the IOC and sponsors' inaction is the Olympic charters' hollow assurances of non-discrimination and respect for basic human rights have now been reduced to mere jive talk and many in the global LGBTQ community are not at all fooled by it.

After calling LGBT activists "idiots," skater Johnny Weir flippantly characterized Russia's gay propaganda law as forbidding “anal sex in front of libraries.” http://bit.ly/1bd6iT4

Mark Lazarus, chairman of the NBC Sports division, told an audience at the Television Critics Association that should the new anti-gay laws impact any part of the Winter Olympics "we will make sure we are acknowledging it and recognizing it." http://bit.ly/1fgW5Wl Did anyone notice NBC reporting the Nazi attack on St. Petersburg LGBT center?

The International Olympic Committee's choice to collaborate with the oppression of LGBT Russians places it and sponsors like Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble, and NBC on the wrong side of history. Jean-Claude Killy, Thomas Bach, and the entire International Olympic Committee should be ashamed of themselves.http://bit.ly/1baw1KD

The Sochi-Soda brand is becoming a sticky mess of homophobia for Coca-Cola corporation.
