Week 8: We Got the Weeks Sorted, Now Onto GUI's
This week in Web Design III (though technically it’s the fourth web design class we’ve taken in Guelph-Humber so what’s up with that?) we took a look at the interesting world of GUI.
Not to be confused with DUI which is a completely separate thing in the world and belongs nowhere on a website unless said website belongs to the police?
Don’t drink and drive kids.
GUI stands for Graphical User Interface, and in it’s simplest form it is basically graphics that react to a person to make something happen. For example the slide to unlock feature on a closed screen of an IPhone. Basically GUI’s often brings more uniqueness to a product. Sometimes it also makes things easier, person-to-person but that’s not always the case.
If I were to create my own cool GUI for a webpage I’d make it be something like ‘hover your finger here to open the link to the other webpage’. But somehow I think that today’s technology isn’t quite ready for my idea.
When it comes to GUI’s there are 18 principles and to be honest I think that these principles also apply to anything that have to do with web design.
My question for this week: How would I create/think of a cool GUI for a website?
By The Way: If anyone tries to offer you Pinesol-Cola, don’t drink it.
