This year has been interesting to me. I started the year in a relationship that I could feel was going downhill but I didn’t want to leave because I loved him too much.
Then he ended things with a line of text over skype and started being a total douche despite claiming we could remain friends.Â
I’m still not over him, and really, by this time, 10 months later, I should be. I’m more over him than I thought I’d be - tumblr has helped, more than my sisters or parents or friends seem to realise, you guys are always there and when asked for advice so often you give it freely and kindly and there are times when I have needed that. Theres also times when people are in situations where I must step away from my own emotions to try to offer advice or comfort. That has helped too.
Theres also fandom, like a great warm family encircling me, providing analyses that distract me when I’m sad, and gifs to make me laugh and headcanons, oh gosh the headcanons.Â
Tumblr is like a second home in a way, its a place I feel safe at. I know my followers are few but I love every one of you, and thank you at the end of this year. Theres also people I follow who probably don’t notice I exist, but always give advice when I ask it, or respond to asks with good humour or simply with facts that help me learn. Without tumblr I don’t think I’d be half as aware as I am of LGBTQIA+ issues and I am still learning.
This year has been quite something and I thank all of you that were part of it. I hope to see much of your posts and reblogs and ask on my dash and in my inbox in the coming year and I thank you for your presence.
Hey, I'm Thekla, and I like they/them pronouns. I enjoy reading, writing (badly) and doodling, as well as a multitude of TV shows. I kind of want to find a more gender-neutral name as I'm not sure if mine is gender-neutral or not, but I really like it and I'm really not sure what other names would suit me.
Hello Thekla! They sounds super great, and their name sounds awesome- kind of sci-fi. Their name seems pretty gender-neutral to us, and if they like it they should definitely keep it! We're sure that they're better at writing than they think, especially if they do a lot of reading.
