Welcome to the world of Modest Fashion! I attended a private press breakfast to introduce influencers and buyers to the founders, sponsors and three local designers who will be participating in Dubai Modest Fashion week next month. #mediainvite Dubai Modest Fashion week will showcase authentic Modest Fashion collections for Spring/Summer 2018 from designers from 5 continents at Burj Park, Downtown Dubai on 8th and 9th December. The event is the brainchild of Think Fashion, a company founded by Franka Soeria and Özlem Şahin to make modest fashion mainstream. The Dubai event follows successful launches in Istanbul and London. On display were designs from UAE based designers @dulcebysafiya , @miellafashion and @twisted_roots. I appreciated the passion of the owner of Miella Fashion who spoke of ethics in their production process. I loved the outfit worn by the owner of Twisted Roots who designs with female travelers in mind. I can actually see myself wearing her outfits on trips abroad because they look comfortable and stylish. Hopefully I am mistaken, but it appears that unlike mainstream fashion that has taken the road to inclusivity with #plussizefashion brands added to major events, it doesn’t seem to be the case here. Perhaps all modestly dressed women wear no bigger than a UK dress size 14?
