Fire, without surprise, is a reoccurring them at #BurningMan. Illumination, of any sort, is wildly popular in the darkness of the #BlackRockDesert night. Imagine: you're deep into the playa outfield, you've gotten turned around & lost your bearings, & there's neon & music 360* around you. You don't know where to head next, & then you see it; a 30ft, mobile mechanical octopus, spewing propane balls of scorch into the inky blackness, like Neptune's industrial-age, underwater chandelier. What a wonderful & whimsical sight to see, in the world's most impractical location. If anything is otherworldly, it IS #ElPulpoMecanico, & it was my favourite gift brought this year, to Northern Nevada. Thank you to the artist, #DuaneFlatmo, for sharing El Pulpo w/ everyone. He even gave me a cool decal, which I'll post shortly. (at Burning Man at Black Rock City)
