This small beach town went all out for this carnival and it was extremely impressing. The rides looked more professional, there were food vendors on every strip, and some of the carnival games actually looked feasible---although the ring toss ran by the old guy with one incisor was pretty sketchy. Donovan would have enjoyed it more if he and sister were escorted by his dogs back at the home rather than the two dhampirs flanking them. So inconvenient, but their parents wouldn’t have allowed Victoria to go alone. He was different, he left that lifestyle ages ago and knew how to fend in the real world alone. The rest of the population was still learning. 

All in all, the only thing he gave a damn about was finding Claribel. It was near impossible to do that with the turn out, but he promised he’d stop by to see her. He silently hoped she’d be able to hang out with him, even if it was for a little bit. Besides, curiosity was eating away at him; he needed to know what section of the carnival she was working at. She made it a mystery and he was eager to figure it out. 

“Looking for your new girlfriend?” Victoria’s crooing voice cut through his thoughts. He furrowed his brows in, rolling his eyes before giving her a gentle shove. “Shuddup.” She sneered before tugging roughly at his earlobe. “I can’t read minds like you can but you’re a fucking open book, Donnie. Loosen up.”
