"I'll write everything down- and. And what's the date? I wanna know everything about you. And maybe I'll remember." They murmured, more hopeful now, as they also pulled out their phone. "And we can take pictures- that way I know what you look like!" -🌌📚

Sapnap's cheeks took on a bit of a flush at that. He nodded softly. "Oh, yeah..."

He pulled out his communicator to show Karl the date, feeling shy. They really wanted to do this...

"Can I.. Mm. I wish I could stay here more often.. I'm sure you're sweet, and take great care of little ol me.." they felt bad. Like. Really really bad.

"And I try to journal everything but- I just. I should be able to remember the most important person in my life.. I shouldn't need to?.." -🌌📚

Sapnap hummed softly. "It's not your fault... You're really important to me either way. Even if I don't have you often, or anything like we used to be... as long as I get to see your face, I'm happy."

"It's okay. I know it's not your fault." Sapnap mumbled, ignoring the strain in his own voice. He tried not to feel embarrassed.

"I should try harder.. I'm sorry.. you said.. your name is Nick, right? Nick. And you're my partner. And caretaker.." Their voice sounded sort of bitter at that. They were young. Or they thought they were young. They couldn't remember how old they were.

Or how old Nick was.

Or his favorite color.. or favorite flower..

They didn't like those thoughts.

Sapnap sighed softly as Karl's chin rested on his head, eyes shutting. He nodded softly, listening to them speak. "Yeah... I'm Nick... or Sapnap..."

Sapnap rubbed their back slightly, trying hard not to cry.

They didn't know that.

They felt the guilt rise in their chest and their frown deepened. Standing up and walking around the other side of the table to wrap arms around his shoulders.

"I'm sorry.. I. I should be able to remember you.. I'm so sorry.." they whispered, voice tender. Genuine. -🌌📚

Sapnap stiffened when he felt Karl wrap their arms around him. His own arms moved to hug around their waist, shaking a bit. A deep breath. Hold for a few seconds. Release.

"It's okay. I know it's not your fault." Sapnap mumbled, ignoring the strain in his own voice. He tried not to feel embarrassed.

They watched with a careful eye, the way Sapnap seemed to shrink in on himself. Frowning, they spoke.

"You can talk to me.. I don't have the best memory, I know that.. but. I can try.." -🌌📚

Sapnap stared at nothing for a long moment, before shaking his head a bit. "I'm your partner... I've gotten used to you not remembering me... I'm fine... I'm always fine..."

Sapnap was trying to convince himself at that point, digging his nails into his own palms to ground himself.
