Except her hands slipped quite lower from where she had been covering where sleeve was torn, crimson blossoming and dripping down her sleeve to her hand, creating a minuscule puddle of blood upon the ground near her feet. A mere bullet graze, caught in the crossfire of some guards when she had been walking back towards the medical building, having to dash yet not quite fast enough to - 

     “Nothing I can’t treat myself. . .”

val likes to think she has decent patience, but god damn it was @dscvrdbcttr driving her crazy with his brooding. he's been extra grumpy the last few days, the tiny glow of warmth behind his eyes absent as he goes about his routine except... sadder. his usual gruff banter is traded for silence. brushing her off to be alone. closing himself off as if they'd just met. it's when they're building something together and he's being extra picky, mostly with himself. it's not perfect, and he looks almost... defeated. val decides in this moment this cannot go on, and she must do something about it. she fully expects him to pull away from her hands as she takes his face in her hands.

   he  really  needs  to  stop  picking  up  strays.  his  balloon’s  basket  was  getting  smaller and smaller  and  he  has  no  intentions  of  upgrading.  still,  he  couldn’t  just  leave  them  where  they  were.  lee  knows  a  bad  situation  when  he  sees  it. 

one  scuffle,  a  black  eye,  and  a  busted  trigger  finger  later,  there  they  were,  the  sun  at  their  backs as they rose into the sky.  he’d  started  his  apologies  for  the  kidnapping  when  they  began  touching  the  black  eye.  his  apologies  stalled  as  he  cautiously  shot  a  look  to  hester,  who  returned  the  gaze  with  a  heartstopping  realization:  their  passenger  had  no  daemon.
