hey so do you think everyone hates Skyler because she is a woman, or because she is generally a dislikable character? or do you think that the fact that she's a woman merely adds exponentially to the amount of dislike and thus her character is dislike disproportionately to a male character given the same traits simply because she is a woman? pls respond pps: is it really a dry heat? ok thanks bye
IтАЩm guessing they dislike Skyler because sheтАЩs a woman, because Breaking Bad is a show on television and the people who talk about it are people on the internet, which makes the odds about 3:1 that they hate her because sheтАЩs a woman as opposed to for any other reason. Also, the way television tends to portray unlikeable traits tends to exaggerate those of women because the men around them react to those as if they are unreasonable/irrational/hysterical/bitchy/demanding/attention-seeking/etc.
Also, this is unrelated to your question, but Sociological Images has a great piece about Breaking Bad and masculinity, and they apparently have actually watched the show.
As for the dry heat, I wouldnтАЩt say so. I mean, yeah, in the summer, itтАЩs a dry heat, at least most of the time. Though it does rain occasionally. While тАЬdry heatтАЭ is usually seen as a selling pointтАФ тАЬHey, itтАЩs hot, but at least itтАЩs not humid"тАФ we also spend our winters in a dry cold.
it doesnтАЩt snow very much, so when it does snow, itтАЩs really exciting and everybody goes to Netherwood Park, aka тАЬthe house with the hillтАЭ aka тАЬpregnant parkтАЭ to тАЬsledтАЭ on the hill on cookie sheets and occasionally actual sleds
they call school off when thereтАЩs even a modicum of snow because the busses donтАЩt handle snow well and a lot of students drive in from the mountains
the one high school in the mountains gets school canceled when thereтАЩs less than a modicum of school in the city because they have even more students in the mountains than everyone else, so as a schoolchild you slowly grow to resent and despise everyone who attends that school because you know that the days when you are freezing your ass off in the barrack that your Geometry class takes place in there are children in the mountains playing in the snow and gloating at you, and they all also probably have nicer houses too and a very nice view of the city from their nice houses
no one knows how to drive in the snow, and if you are from anywhere in New Mexico that doesnтАЩt have a lot of snow, this includes you, and you have likely forgotten everything they taught you in DriverтАЩs Ed about how to drive on ice because even if you just took that class, you took it in the summer, and everything except for Mr. McGinnisтАЩ habit of calling marijuana тАЬmarijahoochieтАЭ has leaked out of your brain
no matter how much chapstick you put on your lips will always be dry. the internet tells you to just slather your lips in it before you go to sleep but you wake up with all of the skin on them coming off and your throat as dry as if you drank an entire container of your favorite alcoholic beverage the night before.
you spend more money than you ever expected on chapstick
your skin is coming off. why is your skin coming off? why are your knuckles bleeding? you have to buy special, thicker creams and ointment to keep your skin from all flaking off, leaving you skinless with your muscles exposed like an anatomical model. your forehead will never stop being dry. you feel like a reptile. you are always, always strangely aware of your skin. your forehead and your hands are the worst.
all of your internet friends think New Mexico is a part of Arizona or some shit and so they think itтАЩs nice and warm there all winter and sometimes you have to actually link them to a forecast site to convince them that it is often below freezing
your nose feels wet. shit, is that snot or blood? oh, good, itтАЩs snot. this time.
Spring has a couple of nice weeks and then spends between a month and a half and two months of constant wind that blows all of the allergens into the air and continues to dry out all of your mucus┬аmembranes, except now there is pollen in the air, so your eyes are not only dry but full of weird pseudo-dust bullshit that is likely to give you some stupid autoimmune response.┬аAutumn is generally nice, though it usually only lasts for a couple of weeks before the weather decides to be balls-freezing cold and usually that happens before Halloween.
So I guess the answer is that yes, it is a dry heat, when it is hot, but itтАЩs also a dry cold, which might be worse than a wet cold, which can at least build up snowpack for your rivers.
