And Steven would've wanted to do it again, if not for how he was getting tired. So he just continued to hug his family.
“No, no more tonight guys.” Balia eyed her husband and how he seemed to be drooping. More than from just the fact that he was sopping wet like the rest of them.
“I’m thinking we should all get into our pajamas and watch a movie together on the couch. Go on inside and get into your pjs. Quick.” Balia encouraged. The kids took a moment to give their parents big hugs and then raced together into the house to get ready for a movie night. Balia however took a moment to hold Steven for a bit. Pressing a kiss to his chin and his neck, before tucking her head under his chin. She heaved a less annoyed sigh. Though she was still that.
“I feel like the Dean and the other Professors are picking on you and I have the urge to go over there and knock some sense into their heads…!” she grumbled.
Steven screamed and embraced the rest of his family.
Balia winced at Steven’s scream. That was right in her ear. But she continued to laugh as the kids practically pounced on them after annihilating their parents in this game of water-balloon war. Caught up in the best group hug ever she was definitely feeling better after the upset of the day and at dinner. She was still frustrated and not happy about it but for now it was more important to support Steven and be a family.
A sopping wet and laughing family. Lar and Opal were also both laughing and hugging their parents.
“That was fun!”
Yeah let’s do that again!” the kids shouted.
"Oh, no!" he cried, raising his hands in mock protest as the last one hit him in the face.
Oh no. She didn’t launch it at him. No she walked right up to her husband and dropped the big old water-balloon on his head. Cackling as she did so and then smooching his face.
And then the kids caught up with them and pelted their mom, and their dad with water balloons.
“Ah oh no!” she giggled and covered her face.
Steven couldn't escape in time, and soon felt water balloons pop on his back, wetting his shirt.
He might have been able to escape had he not still been a little sauced. But oh well! His loss! The kids ran behind their mother, laughing and carrying their own water-balloons to try and pelt her with them. Playing at defending their Papa from her. But she was too quick and sober. And it came at last where Balia had one final water-balloon in hand and Steven with his back against a wall.
“You’re trapped Gemstone! Give it up!” she cackled with glee as she stalked forwards to close the gap between them.

Her husband grinned and began to stumble away.
Balia scooped up a bunch of water-balloons and ran after him in her uneven hitched gait, pelting him with the ammo.
“You can’t get away from me Gemstone!”
Playing with the children calmed Steven down, at least a little.
And doing some gardening helped Balia calm down a lot. Not to mention the sounds of the kids laughing. She looked up from the bed of dark rich earth she was transplanting starts into just as Opal and Larimar were lobbing water balloons at their father.
Okay that put a little bit of a smile back on her face.
Their father smiled at them. "Thanks, dearies." Then he started on his banana bread.
The kids smiled and told him ‘you’re welcome’. Happy in the knowledge that they might have made their Father feel a little better about this thing he was being made to do.
“Maybe we’ll all go on an outing every other Friday then…” Balia murmured. She was still not happy about all of this. But she knew complaining about it further would just upset the kids and add more stress onto Steven’s shoulders. But she still needed to blow off some of her anger some way. So when she was done with her banana bread she said she was going to do some yard work in the garden while Steven and the kids played out there too.
